Attorney Profile

Biography: Before establishing my Maryland law practice, I was a prosecutor for the City of Los Angeles, obtaining convictions for such crimes as theft, prostitution, drug possession, assault and battery, and driving under the influence. Working in a fast-paced, big-city prosecution office, I had the opportunity to serve my community. I also learned to communicate complex legal concepts to a variety of people, from victims and jurors with no legal training to judges, police officers, and fellow attorneys, who had spent decades working in and around the law.

Before joining the Los Angeles City Attorney, I attended UCLA School of Law, where I had the opportunity to extern for the Honorable Margaret Morrow a federal judge in Los Angeles. Judge Morrow encouraged her staff to attend hearings and trials, to expand our knowledge of the law and of effective lawyering. She taught us by example, that attorneys have an obligation to treat people with kindness, respect and fairness.

While in law school, I also worked for the law firm of Riordan & McKinzie, in both litigation (court cases) and transactions (contracts). Working at Riordan, with its Fortune 500 clientele, taught me the tremendous importance of prompt, courteous and respectful client service.

Together, my education and experience have shaped me into a well-rounded lawyer, equally comfortable in a courtroom, a meeting room, or a client’s living room.
